70,000 Acts for 70 Years!

פעם אחת היה רבן יוחנן בן זכאי יוצא מירושלים והיה ר' יהושע הולך אחריו וראה בית המקדש חרב. אמר ר' יהושע: אוי לנו על זה שהוא חרב מקום שמכפרים בו עונותיהם של ישראל. אמר לו: בני אל ירע לך יש לנו כפרה אחת שהיא כמותה. ואיזה, זה גמילות חסדים, שנאמר "כי חסד חפצתי ולא זבח" (הושע ו, ו) {אבות דרבי נתן א, ד}

Once Rabbi Yochanan Ben Yakai was leaving Jerusalem, Rabbi Yehoshua was walking behind him, when they saw the ruins of the Beit Hamikdash. Rabbi Yehoshua said: Shame, the place where Israels' sins were forgiven is now destroyed. Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakai said: Fear not my son, as we have another way of being forgiven. Acts of loving kindness is our forgiveness, as it says "I seek kindness, not sacrifices" (Hosea 6,6) {Avot de Rabbi Natan 1, 4}

This Yom Ha'atzmaut we will be celebrating Israel's 70th birthday! In honour of that we, as Bnei Akiva of Toronto, will be completing 70,000 acts of chessed by Yom Ha'atzmaut.  Whether you are in Chevraya Alef, Chevraya Bet, a Boger or a Parent, we need YOUR help to complete our goal! Anything counts, from volunteering at a telethon, to helping your mom set the Shabbat table, to helping an old lady cross the street, to putting the siddurim away after Tefilla. If it's chessed then add it to this form and help us get closer to our goal of 70,000!

Please add in your chessed in the form below!
